I haven't watched the video, but I think I have a unique position on this because I own both. I have a brand new base model Versa Note, which cost more than, say, a 4-year old 3-series (not sure if thats actually true), but I also have a Grand Marquis that originally sold for $35,700... I paid $8k for it at 7 years old, or a little more than half as much as the Versa cost.
I think the perspectives of the buyer, the purpose of the vehicle, the type/history of the vehicle in question, as well as the handiness of the owner are all factors in which would prevail as being superior. The Versa may not even have power windows...but it doesn't have the Mercury's growing number of electrical issues either.
